The Austin Art Garage is hosting MONSTERS IN AUSTIN, Gerardo’s FIRST solo gallery show and Art Garage’s first major event in over two years! Start your spooky weekend off with 20+ new original paintings of all kinds of monsters and creatures on canvas. Gerardo has been preparing for this show all year and promises something for everyone from his bold, iconic themes to some works in new, exploratory styles! Zilker Brewing Co. is providing Monster Blood beer, and more is in store for a monsterific event!

For his third residency at Zilker Brewing, Gerardo Rodríguez presents a new collection of “old” art: MONSTER THRIFT SHOP featuring a series of his popular thrift store makeovers. After scouring the art sections of resale and thrift stores around Austin, each hand-selected piece received a monster-y upgrade. Gerardo’s added imagination, colors, and iconic creatures have given new life to forgotten and timeworn pieces– a reminder of how a little love, creative expression, and giving something a chance can transform us all. Check out #MonsterMonday on his Instagram for a weekly drop of a smaller-scale thrift store makeover!
The 13th Annual East Side Classic at Central Machine Works Brewery is a free event that includes a motorcycle show, helmet art auction, live music, raffles, and vendors. Gerardo has designed a motorcycle helmet that will be auctioned off with other artist-designed helmets, with all proceeded benefitting Big Medium, a local community arts program. The monsters will also be popping up as a vendor at the event.
